Competition Rules & Regulations:
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the official rules of USA Pickleball (https://usapickleball.org/rules/) as the governing rules of play.
The official tournament ball will be Franklin X40, provided by the organizing committee. Players must bring their own paddles and court shoes, or arrange to borrow them. The tournament organizers will not provide paddles or shoes. Participants must wear pickleball or tennis-specific court shoes.
This tournament operates under a supervised honor system. No referees will be assigned during matches. All participants are expected to uphold integrity and sportsmanship, prioritizing friendship over competition. Line calls (out-of-bounds calls) shall be made by the receiving side (the team on the side where the ball lands).
Team Composition
Each team must consist of 10–14 players, including at least 6 male players and 4 female players. Each team match (between two teams) consists of five events:
Two Men’s Doubles matches
Two Mixed Doubles matches
One Women’s Doubles match
During the overall tournament, players may participate in different events when facing different teams. However, when facing the same team in a single team match, each player may participate in only one event.
If a team has fewer than ten players due to personal reasons, the “one event per player per team match” rule must still be followed. Teams may borrow players from other teams with sufficient personnel.
Any match forfeited due to insufficient players will be recorded as a forfeit.
5. Match Format & Scoring
The tournament will use a Round Robin format.
Each game is played to 15 points, win by at least 1 point. One game determines the winner of each event.
Each team is allowed one one-minute timeout per game.
The right to serve shall be determined by a coin toss. Each team sends one representative. The winner of the toss may choose either:
Which side of the court to start on, or
Whether to serve first.
Only one option may be selected; the remaining choice goes to the opposing team.
Each event win earns the team 1 point.
Team rankings are determined by total accumulated points.
The top three teams in the final standings will receive awards.
6. Tie-Breaking Rules
If teams are tied in total points, rankings will be determined in the following order:
Total number of event wins
Head-to-head result
Overall point differential (points scored minus points allowed)
Head-to-head point differential
If still tied, ranking will be determined by drawing lots or a coin toss
7. Awards
Champion, Runner-up, and Third Place awards will be presented. The association will award medals, trophies, and commemorative gifts.
All other participants, including substitute players, will receive commemorative gifts from the association.
8. Code of Conduct
All players, team captains, and spectators must adhere to the following code of conduct:
Maintain good sportsmanship at all times and respect opponents, teammates, referees or staff, and spectators.
No misconduct, including but not limited to verbal abuse, aggressive behavior, cheating, or intentional interference with matches.
Players must comply with decisions made by tournament referees or staff. Any disputes may only be raised by the team captain in a polite and respectful manner.
Violations of the code of conduct may result in warnings, point deductions, or disqualification, depending on severity.
The tournament organizers reserve the final authority to ensure the event is conducted safely, fairly, and enjoyably.
9. Injury & Liability Waiver
Participation is voluntary and at the participant’s own risk. All players must sign a liability waiver at registration.
By registering, participants acknowledge the inherent risks of sports activities, including but not limited to injury, illness, or accidents.
Each participant is responsible for assessing their own physical condition and suitability to compete.
Medical insurance (if any) is the sole responsibility of the participant.
By submitting registration, participants agree to comply fully with all rules and obligations outlined above and accept their binding effect.
Participants agree to release and hold harmless the tournament organizing committee, host organization, sponsors, venue providers, referees, and volunteers from any claims, liabilities, or damages arising from participation, regardless of the nature, type, or timing of such claims, including those occurring during travel or competition, whether in the past, present, or future.
10. Additional Provisions
Any other competition requirements shall be implemented in accordance with the tournament organizing committee’s regulations. The organizing committee reserves the right of final interpretation of these rules. Matters not covered herein shall be announced separately.
